The Tribe has Spoken: Week 6 update

Tim was our leading scorer this week with 20 points. He was one of only two pool players with Anthony on his weakest list. (How is it that more of us didn't have Anthony as weak? Some of us (ahem...) even had him on our strongest lists...)

James - a.k.a. Rocky - certainly didn't earn a lot of fans at tribal council, either. Can't see him lasting much longer.

Ed's streak of having everyone voted out being on his weakest list ended finally (and thank goodness, since Michelle is my new favorite...) Ed maintains his lead this week, although Tim picked up some ground on him and has moved into second place.

Below is the updated scoring list (click to enlarge). Check my scoring and let me know if anything is amiss...

The Tribe Has Spoken: Week 5 Update

Ed continues to lead as he now is 4 for 4 in having those being voted out on his weakest list. Very impressive. Ed, Tim and Gene were our top scorers this week with 19 points apiece, followed closely by Kim M with 18, then Mary & Margaret with 16.

Below is the updated scoresheet. As always double check my scoring to make sure I got your points right. Check the 'scoring schedule' post to see how this week's episode was scored.

I think poor Alex is beginning to realize he's in an alliance with a couple of knuckleheads...

The Tribe Has Spoken: Week 4 update

Bye bye to Gary (a.k.a. Papa Smurf) and Liliana.
First of all, a couple corrections have been made to week one scoring:

1) I had mistakenly thought Rita was on the immunity-winning tribe when she was not, thus giving a few of you an extra point in error

2) I forgot to include the 'exile-island bonus' points. (this edition of the pool, you get 1 point if one of your weakest is sent to exile island, and 2 points if one of your strongest goes)

I've updated the 'scoring' post to show - in red text - how each week is scored. Let me know if you have any questions.

We have a new leader in the pool. It's Ed, who was our top scorer this week with 27 points and was the only one to have both exiting players on his 'weakest' list. Most of us had Gary, but only Ed & Shanna had Liliana. Elaine has dropped to second and there is a three-way tie for third between defending pool champion Darren, Mary & Shanna - all at 38 points total.
I have amended week one scores in the following table. (as usual, you can click on the table to see it larger size, then just 'arrow-back' to get back to the post)
Double-check my scoring and let me know if you find any more errors.

Week 3 Update

The tribe has spoken .... and I have blogged...

Sylvia - on almost all of our weakest lists - is voted out with Anthony also receiving three votes. Since two pool participants had Anthony as one of their 'weakest five' ('rookie' Elaine, and 'veteran' Tim) they take an early lead.

Below are the standings after the thursday night's episode. (note: if you click on the table, a new, "full-size" window will display the table in a bit easier-to-read print)

A note on future scoring: should Gary leave the game for health reasons (as seems likely), those having him on their weakest five will get the same credit as if he was voted out.

Feel free to post comments to this note or just chat about the show or trash talk, etc. Check the scoring post and confirm that I scored you correctly.

Week 3 update will be posted sometime this weekend

Sorry, just got home from my 'mother-in-law's' 80th birthday party & haven't even watched this week's show yet. I will try to have everything loaded into the blog this weekend.

Welcome!

Welcome!!

This site is the Official Blog Site for the traditional "UFB Survivor Pool" (Now in its 11th season - Yes, Fiji is the 14th season of survivor, but Survivor Africa was our first, and we took a vacation during Survivor Amazon).

As we will have at least a few new participants this season, I'll take a brief moment to recap how the UFB Survivor Pool is played:

At the start of the game (usually we start the game prior to episode 3, giving the players time to get to know the survivors a little better), each pool participant picks his/her five "strongest" and five "weakest" survivors. Players earn more and more points the longer their 'strongest' picks survive (or when their strongest win challenges) and earn points when their 'weakest' are voted off (or receive votes) at tribal council. The earlier your 'weakest' players are voted off, the more points you earn.

When the show gets down to four survivors remaining, the pool takes a bit of a turn. At this point, participants in the pool may wager any, none, or all of the points they have accumulated thus far on which of the four remaining survivors will win the show. This gives those lagging behind in points a chance to get back into the game.

Prizes are awarded (see email for details on prizes) to 1st & 2nd place, and - unlike in prior pools - there will also a prize for who has the lead before the season finale (a "regular season winner" if you will) - i.e. before the wagering of accumulated points. Several participants in prior pools pointed out that 'it should be worth something' to have picked the best strongest & weakest five at the outset, so we're changing the pool accordingly.

The following is a link to CBS's website with tons of info about the episodes, the players, the voting history etc. Use this info to choose wisely...
