The Tribe Has Spoken: Week 12 Update
OK, I missed the episode thursday & don't know if I'll have a chance to watch it on line, but I got the cliff notes version and have updated our scores. Kim M. was our top scorer this week with 20 points, getting just about everything right except not having Alex among her weakest. (Only Shanna had Alex as weak). Gene was our 2nd highest scorer this week with 15. Ed still leads and checked in with 14 points, as did Beverly, Kenny & Leanne. Lois is finally out of last place as she and I are just barely ahead of Carnie's 104 points.
Has anyone heard about the finale being broadcast this sunday as opposed to the 20th? If true, they must be accelerating the councils somehow. Let me know if you hear anything. If this sunday is the final, every pool player needs to submit their 'wager' on who they think will win before Sunday at noon.
Below are the updated scores.

Spoken: Week 11 Update
Finally! A chink in Sir Edwin's armor as one of his strongest is voted off. That makes Ed and pool rookie Kim M. our only two pool players with 4 strongest remaining. Kenny & Tim were our high scorers this week, with Darren and Kim M. close behind. Below is the updated scoretable. Good Luck to all...

The Tribe Has Spoken: Week 8 update

"Should I stay or should I go? Nuh nuh nuh nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh" (with my apolgies to The Clash and Joe Strummer, who is now undoubtedly spinning in his grave...)
The race for second is tightly bunched, however, and it's still anyone's game. Gene finally had one of his strongest 5 knocked out, leaving only Ed, Tim, and the Kims with a complete set.

Jeff Probst: "Why on earth didn't I have Lisi on my weakest list in the UFB Survivor Pool??"
See you next week!

The Tribe has Spoken: Week 7 Update

"Ain't gonna be no rematch!"
OK, well anywhoo... Beverly & Margaret were our top scorers this week with 26 points, followed closely by Nadea with 25. All of these players benefited from Yau-Man finding the immunity idol (sure took him long enough...) thus earning them the 8-point bonus. They also were among those who had Rocky as 'weak' and got the 6-point bonus for him being voted off. Ed still leads and is joined by Gene, Tim, & the Kims as the only players with their strongest 5 intact. It's still anybody's game. Below is the updated scoring table. (click to enlarge) Double-check my scoring please.
See you next week!

Week 3 Update
Sylvia - on almost all of our weakest lists - is voted out with Anthony also receiving three votes. Since two pool participants had Anthony as one of their 'weakest five' ('rookie' Elaine, and 'veteran' Tim) they take an early lead.
Below are the standings after the thursday night's episode. (note: if you click on the table, a new, "full-size" window will display the table in a bit easier-to-read print)
A note on future scoring: should Gary leave the game for health reasons (as seems likely), those having him on their weakest five will get the same credit as if he was voted out.
Feel free to post comments to this note or just chat about the show or trash talk, etc. Check the scoring post and confirm that I scored you correctly.

Week 3 update will be posted sometime this weekend
Tuesday, February 13, 2007
Welcome!
This site is the Official Blog Site for the traditional "UFB Survivor Pool" (Now in its 11th season - Yes, Fiji is the 14th season of survivor, but Survivor Africa was our first, and we took a vacation during Survivor Amazon).
As we will have at least a few new participants this season, I'll take a brief moment to recap how the UFB Survivor Pool is played:
At the start of the game (usually we start the game prior to episode 3, giving the players time to get to know the survivors a little better), each pool participant picks his/her five "strongest" and five "weakest" survivors. Players earn more and more points the longer their 'strongest' picks survive (or when their strongest win challenges) and earn points when their 'weakest' are voted off (or receive votes) at tribal council. The earlier your 'weakest' players are voted off, the more points you earn.
When the show gets down to four survivors remaining, the pool takes a bit of a turn. At this point, participants in the pool may wager any, none, or all of the points they have accumulated thus far on which of the four remaining survivors will win the show. This gives those lagging behind in points a chance to get back into the game.
Prizes are awarded (see email for details on prizes) to 1st & 2nd place, and - unlike in prior pools - there will also a prize for who has the lead before the season finale (a "regular season winner" if you will) - i.e. before the wagering of accumulated points. Several participants in prior pools pointed out that 'it should be worth something' to have picked the best strongest & weakest five at the outset, so we're changing the pool accordingly.
The following is a link to CBS's website with tons of info about the episodes, the players, the voting history etc. Use this info to choose wisely...

Other scoring:
there is an 8-point bonus for one of your strongest five finding a hidden immunity idol (there are two this season, apparently) there is a 2-point bonus if one of your srongest is sent to exile island (they have been more often sending strong players there than weak players) and a 1-point bonus if one of your weakest is sent to exile island. Once the tribes merge, if one of your strongest wins a reward challenge, you receive 4 points. (note: you will not receive points if one of your strongest is picked to share in a reward, they must win the challenge itself)
The pool administrator (that's me!) reserves the right to make necessary,(and fair) changes to the above schedule based upon any curve balls the producers might throw us - multiple councils in one show, etc.
